WELDING

Plastic welding is presented in standard ISO 472 as bonding of two softened materials. Normally the process is enabled by heat except in welding with solution. Welding of thermoplastics is usually done in three steps: surface preparation, heat implication and cooling. Depending on the different mechanical heat supply various ways of welding have been established, classified as internal and external methods. 

 

At SEP company we offer traditional Hot-plate welding based on heating of both parts with hot elements with a temperature from 180 to 300 degrees Celsius. Elements are nickel-plated or silver-plated, for performance up to 260°C we coat them with PTFE. Most often both parts of intermediate heating elements are heated until the product starts to thicken at the weld. After that the element is pulled out and the halves or segments are quickly bonded together under the pressure between 0.1 and 2 N/mm2 which has to last until cooling.
